The Lennon Wall

In Communist time, it was illegal for groups of more than two people to gather together. When John Lennon was assassinated in 1980, nine years before the Czech Republic gained its freedom from the Russians, this wall, across from the French Embassy, near Kampa park, became a rallying point for young Czechs. And this wall became a Graffiti Wall, celebrating Lennon, his principles, Love and also, between the lines, anti-communism.

Today, It is a Wall that still celebrates Lennon's Life and still Celebrates Love. It changes all the time. Every time I stop by, the paintings and saying are different. It is a Cherished Landmark now and owners of this Wall have allowed this to continue on in Lennon's memory.
