This week wine vendors and merchants gather through out Old Town Square as the annual Wine Harvest Festival begins. One can sample and purchase wines from vineyards from all over the Czech Republic; with the main wine region being in south Moravia(Morava), in and around Mikulov, near the Austrian border, with 2ndary wine regions falling just north of Prague in Mělník, Kutna hora and north east in Hradec Králové.
These wine festivals include music from the Czech countryside, specialties like Medovina(honeywine, served hot), fried potatoes with saurkraut and cheese and a special salty cheese fried but not like a french fry, but rather sauteed.
