This was the building that housed Radio Free Europe
Built in 1966-1973 by the well known Czech architect Karel Pragner the building was destined for Federal Assembly (parliament) of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. The building is in the same location as the original corn exchange building. The seat of the Czechoslovak Federal Assembly was there till 1993 when Czechoslovakia was separated into two independent states - Czech Republic and Slovak Republic and the Federal Assembly was dissolved.
From 1993 forward Radio Free Europe was housed in the building, and leased the space that RFE used.
Back in 2005 on my first visit to Prague, it was heavily guarded, with barricades surrounding the entrances and armed guards.
Three years ago the building was vacated by Radio Free Europe and the building became part of the National Museum. There is a subterranean tunnel between the historical building of the National Museum and this building.
Thanks to my friend Eva who helped me get these revised facts corrected. Dekuju ;-)
