...as I have mentioned earlier, Burčák is quite a treat and something specific to Europe and more so, Eastern-Central Europe. It is the Mainstay of Czech Wine Festivals. You can buy it by the small glass as pictured here, large glass or by the Litre, also pictured.
Burčák, or new wine, tastes different with each grape varietal used, whether a white or red. I prefer the white or bíla, but the red or červena can be excellent at times. I had both today... I had to try several. Really sweet, bubbly.
The one thing about Burčák, it can sneak up on you, as any sweet wine can do, plus because this beverage is still in the early stages of fermentation, it keeps on fermenting in your stomach, or so Czechs say...
I have heard several Czech friends voice a smiling concern as they see tourists drink glass after glass for the first time... since they know full well.. it is also a cheap Cathartic, and one must be pretty close to !The Facilities! if you chug a few of these... ....you are in for a shock.
