If God forbade drinking, would He have made wine so good? ~Cardinal Richeleu
Grébovka Vinobraní. Today is Prague's Grébovka Wine Festival. Grébovka is an area within the second largest park in Vinohrady, Prague 2; Havlíčkovy Sady(park)
Havlíčkovy sady is about seven blocks south of Náměstí Míru (metro line A). From Náměstí Míru, you would take tram 4, 22, or 23, get off at Jana Masaryka and walk down Máchova to Rybalkova where you'll find the park's main entrance. Vyborne!< that means excellent in Czech. ;-)
Vinobrani means Wine Festival. Vinobraní na Grébovce: Wine Festival in Grébovka. A Large Annual event in the Heart of Prague, attended by thousands. The Theme this year is: Greek Gods...of Wine and Merriment. Many attendees dress up in costumes to match the Theme. Grébovka gets its name from a Vila of the same name located in the middle of the park. A large stately mansion built in the late 1880's.
Grébovka also has a working vineyard, one several within Prague's city limits. It produces wine each year as well as Burčák. A sweet bubbly slightly fermented new wine, with a kick hours later as it ferments in your stomach. Wonderfully delicious. It is excellent. Why do you think I wanted to come to Prague in September? ;-) Worth every hour on the plane. ;-)
